About This Trek

The Mystery of the Skeleton Lake

Roopkund is one of India's most iconic and enigmatic treks. Nestled in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand, this glacial lake at 15,750 ft is famous for the hundreds of ancient human skeletons that surface around its shores when the snow melts. The trail passes through Asia's largest alpine meadows — Ali Bugyal and Bedni Bugyal — offering sweeping views of Trishul (7,120 m), Nanda Ghunti, and Chaukhamba. The summit push to Junargali Pass at 16,500 ft rewards trekkers with a panorama that few places on earth can match.
